The Senior Buyer plays a key role in driving procurement strategies, optimizing supply chain efficiencies, and managing supplier performance. This position requires expertise in contract negotiations, cost-reduction strategies, and process improvements. The Senior Buyer will lead procurement initiatives, develop supplier strategies, mentor junior buyers, and drive the adoption of advanced procurement tools and systems, including MRP and ERP solutions. This role requires a high degree of autonomy in decision-making and strategic supplier management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives, lead high-value supplier negotiations, and establish long-term procurement partnerships that optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance.*
2. Develop and implement inventory management strategies to ensure just-in-time availability while reducing carrying costs and minimizing obsolescence.*
3. Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to drive process improvements and resolve supply chain issues proactively.*
4. Lead cost-saving initiatives, supplier development programs, and value engineering efforts to optimize procurement costs, improve supplier efficiency, and enhance overall supply chain resilience.*
5. Develop and manage key supplier performance metrics (KPIs) to optimize supply chain efficiency.*
6. Lead cross-functional teams in supplier evaluations, contract negotiations, and strategic sourcing decisions.*
7. Collaborate with Finance and Operations on procurement budgeting and forecasting as well as supporting the accounts payable process with procurement inputs.
8. Act as the procurement subject matter expert for MRP/ERP implementation, process automation, and technology-driven improvements.
9. Stay informed about industry trends, tools, and technologies to enhance procurement processes.
10. Responsible for providing a combination of procurement, production and development support to our contract manufacturing locations both domestic and abroad.
11. Manage new supplier onboarding and existing supplier compliance, including NDAs, certifications, supplier surveys, and regulatory screenings using Descartes Visual Compliance.
12. Responsible for Purchasing approval on DCNs.
13. Lead cost-reduction initiatives through value engineering, alternative sourcing, and supplier development programs
14. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in procurement, including sustainability practices, process automation, and waste reduction.
15. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address supply chain disruptions, reduce lead time variability, and diversify supplier base to minimize single-source dependencies.
16. Lead MRP-driven procurement strategies, ensuring optimal inventory levels, reducing excess stock, and aligning material flow with production schedules.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct supervisory duties. However, the incumbent is responsible for building and maintaining effective and credible relationships with key stakeholders and across all areas of the organization. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are key in this role.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience in manufacturing procurement may be considered.
- Five to eight years of procurement experience, including strategic sourcing, vendor management, and contract negotiations.
- APICS CPIM, CSCP, or other supply chain certifications preferred. Strong preference for candidates with experience in implementing procurement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives in a manufacturing setting.
Travel:
Ability to travel locally and domestically at least 5%-10% of the time.
Equipment/Software:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Primarily MS Excel are desired.
- Proficiency in ERP Software required; Infor CloudSuite preferred.
- Ability to organize data for analysis and reporting.
- APICS CPIM/CSCP certification or certification in progress is desired.
