Product Line Manager

The Product Line Manager (PLM) role is a key leadership role within our sales team. The Product Line Manager is responsible for managing current and future product lines to increase market share and profitability of our products. Work performed includes monitoring the creation and development of new product(s), performing ongoing market research, tracking orders, participating in company meetings, traveling to customers and industry events, and continuously monitoring product performance and profitability. This superstar also works hand in hand with engineering to assist in new product development and sales on order generation and order life-cycle support.

Essential Functions:

1. Conducts market research, generating product requirements, developing marketing strategies, and determining specifications, production timetables, pricing, and time-integrated plans for product introduction.

2. Manages existing product lines and customer relationships and continuously monitors product sustainability and ROI.

3. Leads product development strategy, appraisal, and redesign from concept through development and manufacturing to market launch.

4. Analyze and determine new and existing customer needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships from an ROI perspective.

5. Assess current competitor offerings, seeking opportunities for differentiation.

6. Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for prototype construction and final product development with the engineering team and operations teams.

7. Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, marketing, and sales teams on the development, QA, and release of products and balance of resources to ensure success for the entire organization.

8. Drive the product and business-planning process across cross-functional teams of the company.

9. Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs, preparing return-on-investment analyses, and establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.

10. Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers throughout the sales cycle, from product selection through implementation

11. Deliver compelling technical presentations, demos, and product guidance to internal and external stakeholders

12. Provide hands-on support for a wide range of strategic key accounts across the country

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities; however, the incumbent must be able to build and maintain effective and credible relationships with key stakeholders and across all areas of the business. Effective communication is key in this role.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

XMA operates on a 9/80 work schedule. Employees work nine hours per day Monday through Thursday, and one eight-hour day on Friday. Every other Friday is a scheduled day off.

Travel:

Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30-50% of the time, depending on business needs.

Required Education and/or Experience and Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a field tied to the product’s sector and minimum 2–3 years of experience in a technical sales, applications engineering, or customer-facing engineering roles; or seven plus years related experience and/or training, including project management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications; primarily MS Excel, including lookup functions, and PivotTables is desired.
  • Proficiency using Infor CloudeSuite Industrial (SyteLine) is desired.
  • Willing and able to attain professional designations / continuing education.
